DPT - Dual Power Tee
Orbital introduces the DPT - Dual Power Tee, a System Interface Product (SIP), that is a Bias Tee with two DC inputs for redundant power supplies. As with the Bias Tee, the Dual Power Tee injects and filters external DC to the LNB/BUC, while providing exceptional through loss with highpass filtering of the L band signal. Additional features of the Dual Power Tee are Transorbs - to protect the LNB/BUC and other components from power spikes. We also have Polyfuses, that trigger with excess power consumption, but will automatically reset themselves after a few seconds of removal of the cause of the excess current. The diodes are Schotkky - to yield high power, but with a low barrier voltage to minimize voltage drop. Inductors are placed in each DC line to provide AC isolation between each output, along with filters to provide proper bypass. LEDs are mounted on the side of the Dual Power Tee, and a DC filter mitigates interaction between the power supplies.
Redundant Power Supplies
The first step in Redundancy, is to protect against the most common cause of failure - loss of power. The Dual Power Tee automatically switches to the second power supply in case of failure. The power supplies are hot-swappable, making the DPT the least expensive redundancy devise for your system.
Please note that just because you do not see a product listed, does not mean that we don't (or won't), make it. Custom sizes, custom connectors, custom configurations, custom specifications, stack, plate or rack mounting, integrations of SIP components can all be done to order.
Functional
- Will operate with LNBs, VSATs, BDCs BUCs, and Modems
- O ring sealed connectors and Hylomar sealed enclosure
- Each power supply is fully physically independent, and can be replaced with modules readily available worldwide
Structural
- The system mounts to the back of the rack, out of the way. This makes the product ideal for flyaway systems
- Since it is integrated into the Bias Tee, you do not need multiple boxes, and you get an L band filter as well
- Each power supply has its own IEC 320 AC plug, that makes the unit usable anywhere in the world, at any voltage or line frequency.
- Diode protection to prevent accidentally applying reverse polarity DC.
- Polyfuse protection alleviates the need for spare fuses
- Solid aluminum billet, milled box and lid
- Allodyne finish, Mil SPEC C-5541 CAT-3
Benefits
- Lower cost, higher quality with a one-box solution
- No labor to source, assemble and test a 'kluge'
- Custom design variations welcome
- Custom labeling requirements welcome
Flexible Solutions
An Orbital MOS 10 MHz TCXO Oscillator seamlessly integrates with other Orbital SIP components such as Mux Tees, 10 MHz Splitters, Combiners, Dividers, etc, minimizing insertion loss, maximizing port to port isolation, matching impedances, and giving a choice of connectors to provide ease of installation.
Made for Professional Use, Made for Satellite

| Modem has DC power, but not enough to power my new BUC. | |
| I want to lock several modems to a single 10 MHz Oscillator, and insert high power DC to my BUC. | |
| I have a pair of modems, one of which provides a 10 MHz reference, but I don't have enough power from my modem for my new high power BUC. | |
| I have a pair of modems and I need to use the 10 MHz reference from one of them and split it. I need to take the L-Band signal from both modems and combine it with the 10 MHz reference. Now I need to insert DC power for a pair of high power BUCS. | |
| I need to combine the L-Band signals from a pair of modems with an common, external 10 MHz source, and insert power to a pair of high power BUCs. | |
| My modem does not have sufficient DC to power my BUCs, and I can't switch DC power to the BUC, what to do? | |
| We need a system that will provide us with both horizontal and vertical polarities at Ku Band. In addition, the system must offer 1 for 2 redundancy. | |

The Orbital DPT Dual Power Tee works like a high quality Bias Tee, but supports dual power supplies - if one power supply fails, the other is instantly active.
The DPT is the least expensive type of redundancy insuring against the most common source of failure - failure of the power supply.
The DPT also filters and conditions its incoming signals.
