System Interface Products (SIP)

System Interface Products (SIP)

System Interface Products replace what is normally a mélange of separate devices with integrated systems manufactured specifically for the satellite industry. All SIP units are rack mountable, and act to reduce the mess of cables at the back of the rack. Product integration results in greater quality, vastly improved reliability, much less signal loss, properly matched components, and lowered overall costs, especially when the costs to source, assemble, and test a 'kluge' are considered.

MOM - 10MHz Oscillator
(TCXO) & BiasTee/Multiplexer
PRODUCT SERIES:
Oscillators

MOM 10 MHz Master Oscillator (TCXO)

MOM is about integration.  It unites two orbital products into one unique package.  Nowhere else can you get a quality, made for satellite oscillator like the MOS-1 combined with the unparalleled  MT-25/40 Mux/Tee.

MOM has excellent phase noise and stability, and when integrated with a filtered multiplexer and bias tee, it provides the optimum price versus performance mix.  A one box, plug and play solution designed for 'back o rack' mounting.

System Interface Products (SIP), fit between the Outdoor LNB's or transmitters, (ODU),
and the Indoor receivers and modems (IDU).

Please note that just because you do not see a product listed, does not mean that we don't (or won't), make it.  Custom sizes, custom connectors, custom configurations, custom specifications, stack, plate or rack mounting, integrations of SIP components can all be done to order.

  • Low thru loss from 10 MHz input to LNB
  • Low-pass filtered DC, 1 Amp capacity, 2.5 amp for transmitters
  • Any combination of 50W and 75W  in/out Impedance transforms;
    •          (e.g. 75W J-1 to 50W J-2)
  • Very low band-pass ripple
  • Very low L band through loss
  • Very high Rx port to 10 MHz port isolation, no leakage back to receiver
  • Superior Input and Output VSWR
  • Protects phase noise performance
  • Exceptional immunity to ground loop modulation

Functional

  • Will operate with LNBs, VSATs, BUCs, and Modems
  • Will eliminate loss of lock and bit error rate problems caused by poorly designed bias tees and 'kluged' solutions
  • Will reduce stray RF ingress into receivers/modems by filtering out all extraneous signals except the desired L band signal
  • Will ensure that high level 10 MHz signals are delivered only to the LNB and not back to the receiver or modem.
  • Will filter and condition the DC power to eliminate extraneous signals coming in through the power supply

Structural

  • Machined from solid aluminum block for strength, stability, and endurance
  • Allodyne finish for corrosion protection and excellent RF shielding/ grounding
  • Excellent shielding and grounding
  • "Back O Rack" mounting bracket for ease of installation and lead dress
  • Cannon to BNC adapter cable available
  • Fewer cables and connectors yields less signal degradation
  • Reduces the mess of cables at the back of the rack
  • Full test documentation available
  • Provides stability for cables

Benefits

  • Lower cost, higher quality with a one-box solution
  • No labor to source, assemble and test a 'kluge'
  • Custom design variations welcome
  • Custom labeling requirements welcome

SIP Solutions

Systems Interface Products
Although Combiners and Oscillators are also SIP products, we have narrowed the definition here to just include Bias Tees, Diplexers, Mux Tees, TTL Switches, Thru Tees, Dual Power Tees, etc.
Here are standard applications for each of these products.  Here's how to insert 10 MHz, insert DC, extract 10 MHz, block DC, extract DC, multiplex DC L band and 10 MHz, and perform impedance transforms while you do it.

Using a Hi Power Thru Tee to power a BUC Modem has DC power, but not enough to power my new BUC.
4 Way Combiner with 10 MHz Oscillator and Hi Power DC insert. I want to lock several modems to a single 10 MHz Oscillator, and insert high power DC to my BUC.
Orbital 2-way Combiner using 10 MHz from one of the modems and Hi Power Mux/Tee to insert DC power I have a pair of modems, one of which provides a 10 MHz reference, but I don't have enough power from my modem for my new high power BUC.
Orbital Combiner/Divider stripping out the 10MHz from only one of two modems I have a pair of modems and I need to use the 10 MHz reference from one of them and split it.  I need to take the L-Band signal from both modems and combine it with the 10 MHz reference.  Now I need to insert DC power for a pair of high power BUCS.
Orbital Combiner/Divider using a MOS 10 MHz Oscillator I need to combine the L-Band signals from a pair of modems with an common, external 10 MHz source, and insert power to a pair of high power BUCs.
Using an Orbital Hi Power Thru Tee to circumvent a divider or switch My modem does not have sufficient DC to power my BUCs, and I can't switch DC power to the BUC, what to do?
Horizontal/Vertical Polarity 1 for 2 Redundant System We need a system that will provide us with both horizontal and vertical polarities at Ku Band.  In addition, the system must offer 1 for 2 redundancy.
More SIP Solutions
Using a Mux Tee Using an Orbital MT-40 Mux Tee to multiplex the L-Band, and 10 MHz reference signals with DC power for a BUC.
Using a Bias Tee Using an Orbital MT-40 Mux Tee as a Bias Tee to insert DC Power to a BUC
Using a Diplexer Using an Orbital MT-40 Mux Tee as a Diplexer to insert a 10 MHz reference to a BUC
Using Redundant Power Tee Using an Orbital Redundant Power Tee provides inexpensive power supply redundancy.
Using a Thru Tee Using an Orbital Thru Tee to provide a separate DC power supply to the BUC, while passing the 10 MHz signal through from the modem.
